Using Assessment Tools for Team Development

15 Sep 2010 : London, UK

Gain an innovative toolkit to develop teams beyond the usual approaches. Examine team structure and development from the perspectives of personality, perception, effectiveness and strategy. A must for any team facilitator.
Aims and Objectives:

Understand the research that makes teams successful

Examine case studies to see the business case for team intervention

Know what makes a good team assessment tool

Use tried-and-tested principles to implement a successful team event

Whether you are a team facilitator just starting out or a seasoned professional wanting to update your toolkit, the course will benefit your practice. Many team events work on the basis that people have a fun time and begin to build relationships. However, there are many more levels to work on to achieve higher team performance, such as individual personalities, perceptions of the team, the team’s current and potential effectiveness, and the overall team strategy. Proper assessment of these areas which are fundamental to a team’s success are often overlooked, largely as a result of easily accessible ‘team personality’ questionnaires. Drawing on practical experiences of team programmes and sound research, this workshop gives you the framework to design impactful and long-lasting team programmes. It focuses on tools you can use with teams, taking you through their focus and their impact on personality, perception, effectiveness and strategy. It tackles the practical points of team assessment and how to run a successful team event.

You will leave knowing how to:

Evaluate and use different team tools, knowing their potential and limitations.

Focus team interventions so that they bear in mind personality, perception, effectiveness and strategy.

Design a team event to work at fundamental levels.

Facilitate a successful team event to create impact.

Facilitator: The workshop is facilitated by Nigel Evans, Chartered Occupational Psychologist. Nigel's career in psychology has included lecturing, research and consulting roles in applied business areas.

As a business psychologist, Nigel uses team tools in designing and leading team programmes with top private and public sector organisations, including Board level. He focuses on diagnosing and working on the presenting issue within a team rather than wheeling out the standard team solution.

Venue: London.

Times: 10am to 4pm, including lunch and refreshments.

Introductory Price: £195+vat.
